Identify and Inspect the 25 Mobile Base
The radio may be identified in product or order records as 25 Mobile Base, Talk2Me 25 Mobile Base, 2025 Mobile Base, Mobile PoC Radio, or Base PoC Radio.
The 25 Mobile Base is different from the 26 Mobile Base Plus, 26 Rescue Mobile Base, The Standard, The Standard Plus, The Pro, and other handheld Talk2Me radios.
Do not use Rescue Mobile Base antenna, UHF/VHF, or power instructions for this model. The 25 Mobile Base is a cellular PoC radio unless another capability is specifically documented for the exact product.
Check the packaging, order confirmation, radio label, IMEI information, product listing, or Talk2Me customer order page when the model is uncertain.
Intended use
The 25 Mobile Base may be appropriate for:
- Vehicle installations
- Dispatch or security desks
- Office and fixed workstation use
- Transportation operations
- Business base stations

Power and Installation
12-volt DC power requirement
The 25 Mobile Base normally uses 12-volt DC power. Before connecting it:
- Confirm the radio’s required input voltage.
- Confirm correct positive and negative polarity.
- Use the supplied or approved cable.
- Use appropriate fuse protection.
- Confirm that the source can provide sufficient current.
- Secure all electrical connections.
- Protect wiring from heat, movement, abrasion, and sharp edges.
Electrical and fire hazard
Do not connect the radio to an unknown supply, incorrect voltage, reversed polarity, damaged vehicle wiring, an improperly unfused circuit, an improvised household adapter, or a source that cannot provide sufficient current.
Vehicle installation
Customers unfamiliar with automotive electrical systems should use a qualified installer.
- Review the vehicle owner’s manual.
- Select a mounting location that does not obstruct the driver.
- Keep the radio, microphone, and wiring away from airbags and deployment areas.
- Confirm that the bracket can be attached securely.
- Route wiring away from moving parts, sharp metal edges, and excessive heat.
- Use appropriate fuse protection and confirm correct polarity.
- Connect and position the external cellular antenna.
- Secure the hand microphone where it can be reached safely.
- Test the installation before placing the vehicle into service.
Do not mount the radio where it interferes with steering, pedals, the gear selector, vehicle displays, airbags, driver visibility, emergency controls, or passenger movement.
Mount the radio
- Select a stable mounting location.
- Confirm that no wiring, fuel lines, airbags, or other vehicle components are behind the mounting surface.
- Attach the bracket using appropriate hardware.
- Position the radio in the bracket.
- Adjust it to a safe viewing and operating angle.
- Hand-tighten the side hardware.
- Confirm that the radio remains secure during normal operation.
Do not overtighten the mounting hardware. Excessive force may damage the housing, bracket, threads, or mounting surface. Check the hardware periodically because vehicle vibration can loosen it over time.
Indoor or fixed-location use
The radio may also be used at a desk or fixed location with an appropriate regulated power supply. The supply must provide the correct DC voltage, current capacity, polarity, connector, and electrical protection.
Place the radio where:
- Ventilation is available.
- The power cable is protected.
- The cellular antenna can be positioned correctly.
- The microphone is easy to reach.
- The radio cannot be knocked from the surface.
- Liquids cannot spill onto it.
- Heat cannot build up around it.
An unregulated or undersized supply may cause startup failure, repeated restarts, audio trouble, connection loss, excessive heat, electrical damage, or fire risk.
Cellular Antenna
The external antenna is used for cellular-data communication.
Connect the antenna
- Identify the cellular antenna port.
- Confirm that the antenna is intended for the 25 Mobile Base.
- Align the connector carefully.
- Tighten it by hand.
- Do not overtighten or use tools.
- Route the cable safely.
- Position the antenna according to its installation instructions.
Do not force the connector, use pliers, install a damaged or unknown antenna, substitute a UHF/VHF antenna, or operate with a loose antenna connection.
A matching connector does not prove compatibility. The antenna must support the cellular frequencies and operating requirements used by the radio.
Position the antenna
- Position it according to its design.
- Avoid placing it beneath metal when possible.
- Protect the cable from crushing and sharp bends.
- Keep the connector dry.
- Secure excess cable.
- Keep it away from high-current wiring when practical.
Poor placement may cause weak signal, intermittent connection, audio breakup, Offline status, or repeated carrier searching. A stronger antenna cannot create service where no compatible cellular network exists.
Hand Microphone
The hand microphone normally provides PTT control, microphone audio, and received-audio or speaker functions when supported.
Connect the microphone
- Power the radio off when required by the accessory instructions.
- Inspect the plug and radio connector.
- Align the plug correctly.
- Insert it without forcing it.
- Secure any locking ring, screw, or clip by hand.
- Power the radio on.
- Test PTT operation.
- Test transmitted and received audio.
Do not pull the microphone by its cable or route it where it interferes with steering, the gear selector, pedals, vehicle controls, or driver movement.
Microphone compatibility
Use only a hand microphone confirmed compatible with the 25 Mobile Base. A microphone may fit physically but still use different connector wiring, pin assignments, audio levels, PTT behavior, speaker functions, or controls.
An incompatible microphone may cause no transmitted or received audio, stuck transmit, repeated restarts, electrical damage, or unexpected menu behavior. Stop using any accessory that causes abnormal operation.
Startup and Status Information
Power on the radio
- Confirm that power, microphone, and cellular antenna are connected correctly.
- Turn on the vehicle or indoor power source.
- Press and hold the radio’s power control.
- Wait for the startup screen.
- Allow the radio to register with the cellular network.
- Allow the Talk2Me platform to connect.
- Confirm the expected username and group.
- Complete a short radio check.
Connection may take up to approximately two minutes and may take longer after recent activation, weak signal, extended nonuse, restored SIM service, movement between carrier areas, or account synchronization. Do not repeatedly cycle the power while it is connecting.
Confirm that the radio is online
A connected 25 Mobile Base may display signal bars, cellular-network information, online or idle status, username, current group, and other service details.
Signal bars do not prove that Talk2Me service is connected. A radio may show cellular service but remain Offline because of expired or suspended SIM service, cellular-data trouble, platform-account trouble, configuration trouble, a platform interruption, or an antenna problem.
Find the IMEI
The IMEI identifies the radio hardware. It may appear on the radio label, packaging, About menu, System Information, Service Information, IMEI screen, or Talk2Me order record.
Do not confuse the IMEI with the SIM ICCID, username, group name, order number, or platform account number.
Find the SIM ICCID
The ICCID identifies the installed cellular SIM. On supported software versions, open:
Menu → Settings → Service Information
The screen may show the SIM operator, active slot, ICCID, radio user ID, current group, and other service details. Do not remove the SIM solely to locate the ICCID when it is available through the menu.
Do not publish the complete IMEI or ICCID publicly.
Groups and Push-to-Talk
Network assignment
The 25 Mobile Base may not provide the same additional Network menu found on certain Talk2Me handheld radios. It may connect directly to its assigned platform.
Depending on the account, it may be configured for PRS, CRS when available and assigned, HamLink, a specific private network, or another assigned Talk2Me platform.
A missing Network menu is not necessarily a defect. When the expected platform or groups do not appear, contact Talk2Me instead of attempting to reset or reconfigure the radio.
Select a group
- Open the radio menu.
- Select Groups.
- Review the available list.
- Highlight and confirm the intended group.
- Return to the main screen.
- Confirm that the group name appears.
- Complete a short radio check.
Contact Talk2Me when no groups appear, a required group is missing, an unfamiliar group appears, the selection will not save, the radio was recently replaced, or radios on the same private network show different group lists.
Transmit with the hand microphone
- Confirm that the radio is online.
- Confirm that the intended group is selected.
- Listen briefly for another transmission.
- Press and hold the microphone PTT button.
- Wait a brief moment.
- Speak clearly toward the microphone.
- Release PTT when finished.
For clearer communication, speak normally, hold the microphone several inches from your mouth, avoid covering the microphone opening, keep transmissions brief, and release PTT so another user can respond.
Complete a radio check
- Power on the Mobile Base and another Talk2Me radio.
- Allow both radios to show online.
- Confirm that they use the same platform and group.
- Separate the radios and reduce speaker volume.
- Transmit a short message from the Mobile Base.
- Release PTT and respond from the other radio.
- Confirm clear audio in both directions.
Nearby radios on the same group may create loud feedback. Close-range feedback does not necessarily indicate a defect.
Menus and Optional Features
Available menus vary by software and configuration. Possible items include Groups, Members, Settings, About, Service Information, and System Information.
Possible settings may include display brightness, screen timeout, speaker volume, PTT prompt tone, keypad tone, keypad lock, voice prompts, power saving, signal information, SIM information, service details, IMEI information, APN, factory reset, and Single Call.
Do not change unfamiliar, cellular, or protected system settings merely because they appear.
Wi-Fi and Bluetooth
Do not assume that the 25 Mobile Base supports the same Wi-Fi or Bluetooth procedures used by The Standard Plus. Use either feature only when it appears on the exact radio, is documented for that hardware revision, or Talk2Me confirms support.
GPS
GPS availability depends on the exact hardware revision, antenna configuration, activated service, platform setup, satellite reception, and authorized dispatcher or application access.
A GPS menu or icon does not automatically mean GPS service is active. Contact Talk2Me to confirm whether the specific radio and account include GPS functionality. Talk2Me GPS or location functions do not contact 911.
Troubleshooting
The radio will not power on
- Confirm that the vehicle or indoor power source is operating.
- Confirm the correct voltage and polarity.
- Confirm that the power cable is connected securely.
- Inspect the fuse.
- Hold the radio power control long enough.
- Confirm the correct vehicle ignition position when switched power is used.
- Confirm that the indoor supply is turned on and can provide sufficient current.
Do not repeatedly replace a fuse without identifying why it failed. A blown fuse may indicate a short circuit, reversed polarity, damaged wiring, incorrect installation, or an internal radio problem. Stop and use a qualified technician when electrical damage is suspected.

Incorrect username or groups appear
Do not transmit on unfamiliar private groups. Record the IMEI, ICCID, displayed username, groups, order number, private-network name, and a photograph of the screen. Contact Talk2Me promptly when another customer’s information appears.
Safety and Service Limitations
Do not factory-reset the 25 Mobile Base
A reset may remove or disrupt Talk2Me software, platform assignment, groups, cellular configuration, username, required background services, and customer-specific settings. It may leave the radio unable to communicate until reconfigured.
Do not remove or swap the SIM
The installed SIM may be associated with the radio IMEI, cellular plan, Talk2Me platform account, renewal record, and customer configuration. Do not remove it, move it to another radio, change slots, install another SIM, cut or resize it, or change APN settings unless Talk2Me Support instructs you to do so.
Do not install unauthorized software or open the housing
Do not root the radio, install unsupported applications, change firmware, disable Talk2Me services, use unauthorized programming software, alter protected engineering settings, open the housing, or attempt an internal repair. Unauthorized changes may prevent communication and affect warranty eligibility.
Driving safety
Do not perform complex operations while driving. Drivers should not enter settings, review long menus, change technical configuration, read support instructions, handle loose equipment, troubleshoot wiring, or type information while the vehicle is moving.
Pull over safely before completing tasks that require extended attention, and follow all applicable distracted-driving laws.
Emergency-service limitation
The 25 Mobile Base’s Talk2Me PoC service cannot call 911.
