The Talk2Me 26 Rescue Mobile Base combines two separate communication systems in one vehicle or fixed-location radio:
- Push-to-talk over cellular (PoC) through cellular data and the Talk2Me platform
- Traditional UHF/VHF radio through programmed radio frequencies without cellular service or internet access
Important
The PoC and UHF/VHF systems operate differently and use separate antennas. Do not factory-reset the radio, remove or move its SIM card, change cellular settings, install unsupported software, program unauthorized frequencies, bypass documented power components, or open the housing unless Talk2Me Support specifically instructs you to do so.

Identify and Inspect the 26 Rescue Mobile Base
The radio may be identified in product or order records as 26 Rescue Mobile Base, Talk2Me 26 Rescue Mobile Base, Rescue Mobile Base PoC/UHF/VHF Radio, or 26 Rescue Mobile PoC Radio.
It is different from the 25 Mobile Base, 26 Mobile Base Plus, 26 Talk2Me Rescue handheld, The Standard, The Standard Plus, The Pro, and other Talk2Me handheld radios.
Do not use 25 Mobile Base connection or antenna instructions for the Rescue model. The 26 Rescue Mobile Base has separate connections for the 4G cellular antenna, optional GPS antenna, UHF/VHF antenna, speaker microphone, and external DC power.

Compare the contents with the product listing, order confirmation, quote, invoice, and packing slip. Check every box, insert, divider, and accessory compartment before reporting an item missing.
Inspect everything before installation
Before connecting power, inspect the radio, display, controls, bracket, side screws, microphone and cable, power cables, T-DY01, T-shaped DC cord, fuse protection, each antenna, BNC adapter, and every connector.
Do not connect or operate equipment with:
- Exposed wiring or cut, crushed, or burned cables
- Burned power or antenna connectors
- Bent antenna ports or broken antenna connections
- Cracked housing or loose internal components
- Severe shipping damage or liquid exposure
- Burning or electrical odor
Do not connect damaged equipment to power. Keep all packaging, take clear photographs, and submit Warranty, Return & Repair Support before shipping anything back.
Mounting and Placement
Install the mounting bracket
- Select a secure mounting location.
- Confirm that the location does not interfere with vehicle operation.
- Check behind the mounting surface for wiring, airbags, fuel lines, brake components, and other vehicle systems.
- Secure the bracket with appropriate hardware.
- Position the radio between the sides of the bracket.
- Insert the two side screws.
- Adjust the radio to a safe viewing and operating angle.
- Hand-tighten the side screws.
- Confirm that the radio remains secure.
Do not overtighten the side screws. Excessive force may damage the housing, bracket, threads, or mounting surface. Inspect the bracket and hardware periodically because vehicle vibration may loosen them.
Choose a safe location
Do not mount the radio where it interferes with:
- Driver visibility, steering, pedals, or gear selector
- Airbags or airbag deployment areas
- Vehicle displays or emergency controls
- Passenger movement or access to safety equipment
The radio and microphone must not become loose objects during sudden braking or a collision. Follow the vehicle manufacturer’s instructions and accepted mobile-radio installation practices.
Rear Antenna Connections
The rear of the radio generally includes:
- A port marked 4G for the cellular antenna
- A port marked GPS for the optional GPS antenna
- A separate BNC-style connection, which may be unmarked, for the UHF/VHF antenna
The antennas are not interchangeable. Confirm the port label, antenna purpose, connector, supported frequency range, and installation instructions before attaching anything.
4G cellular antenna
The 4G antenna supports cellular data and Talk2Me PoC communication.
- Power the radio off.
- Locate the rear port marked 4G.
- Confirm that the antenna is intended for cellular service.
- Align the connector carefully.
- Tighten it securely by hand without overtightening.
- Route the cable safely when an external cable is used.
- Position the antenna according to its design.
Do not attach the UHF/VHF or GPS antenna to the 4G port. Poor cellular antenna installation may cause weak signal, Offline status, intermittent connection, audio breakup, repeated network searching, or slow platform connection.
A cellular antenna cannot create coverage where no compatible cellular network is available.
Optional GPS antenna
Connect a GPS antenna only when it was included or separately purchased, the feature is supported, and Talk2Me instructed you to install it.
- Power the radio off.
- Locate the port marked GPS.
- Connect the compatible GPS antenna.
- Tighten it by hand.
- Position it with the clearest practical view of the sky.
GPS performance may be reduced indoors, in garages or metal buildings, beneath metal roofs, around tall structures, when hidden beneath metal, or when the cable is damaged.
The presence of a GPS port or antenna does not activate tracking automatically. GPS service may also require compatible account configuration, an activated service, platform access, an authorized dispatcher or manager, cellular connectivity, and satellite reception.
UHF/VHF antenna
The UHF/VHF antenna connects to the separate BNC-style radio-frequency connection. The documented antenna ranges are:
- VHF: 136–174 MHz
- UHF: 400–470 MHz
The included BNC adapter may be required depending on the supplied antenna and connector.
- Power the radio off.
- Identify the BNC UHF/VHF connection.
- Confirm that the antenna supports the required frequency range.
- Install the included BNC adapter when required.
- Align the connector carefully.
- Lock or tighten it according to the connector design.
- Confirm that the antenna is secure.
- Route the antenna cable safely.
Never transmit through UHF/VHF without a proper antenna attached.
Using a missing, damaged, incorrect, or poorly connected antenna may reduce range, produce poor audio, increase reflected power, damage transmitting components, and create unsafe operating conditions.

PoC and UHF/VHF are separate
The two systems can operate independently. For example:
- PoC may work when no UHF/VHF channels are programmed.
- UHF/VHF may work when cellular coverage is unavailable.
- Expired SIM service may disable PoC while UHF/VHF remains available.
- A UHF/VHF programming problem may not affect PoC.
- A cellular antenna problem may not affect UHF/VHF.
- A UHF/VHF antenna problem may not affect PoC.
Do not confuse a Talk2Me network or PoC group with a UHF/VHF frequency, channel, repeater, or programming entry.
Speaker Microphone
Connect the speaker microphone
- Power the radio off when required.
- Inspect the plug and cable.
- Identify the radio microphone jack.
- Align the plug correctly.
- Insert it without forcing it.
- Secure any locking ring, screw, or clip by hand.
- Power the radio on.
- Test received audio.
- Test microphone audio.
- Test the microphone PTT button.
Do not pull or carry the radio by the microphone cable. Route it away from steering, pedals, the gear selector, controls, driver movement, and airbag deployment areas.
Microphone compatibility
Use only a microphone confirmed compatible with the 26 Rescue Mobile Base. Microphones may differ in pin assignments, wiring, audio level, speaker function, PTT behavior, and connector design.
An incompatible microphone may cause no transmit or receive audio, stuck transmit, repeated restarts, electrical damage, or unexpected operation.
Power Connections
Documented power sequence
Connect the components in this order:
- Radio power cable
- T-DY01 component
- T-shaped DC power cord
- Vehicle battery or appropriate regulated indoor power supply
Do not omit, bypass, reverse, or substitute a documented power component unless Talk2Me provides specific instructions for the exact installation.
Vehicle power connection
- Confirm that the radio is switched off.
- Connect the radio power cable.
- Connect it to the T-DY01 component.
- Connect the T-DY01 to the T-shaped DC cord.
- Route the wiring safely.
- Confirm correct voltage and polarity.
- Use appropriate fuse protection.
- Connect the DC wiring to the vehicle power source using accepted installation practices.
- Secure every connection.
- Confirm that wiring cannot contact moving, sharp, or hot components.
- Test the radio before placing the vehicle into normal service.
Follow the vehicle owner’s manual, manufacturer warnings, accepted mobile-radio practices, and applicable electrical and safety requirements. Customers unfamiliar with vehicle electrical systems should use a qualified installer.
Electrical safety
Before applying power, confirm:
- Correct voltage and polarity
- Sufficient current capacity
- Appropriate fuse protection
- Secure ground
- Undamaged wiring and connectors
- Correct power-component sequence
Electrical and fire hazard
Do not connect the radio to unknown voltage, reversed polarity, damaged wiring, an improperly unfused circuit, an improvised household adapter, an undersized supply, or loose or exposed wiring.
Indoor power-supply use
An indoor regulated DC supply must meet the radio’s voltage, current, polarity, connector, duty-cycle, and electrical-protection requirements. Use the documented power components unless Talk2Me provides different instructions.
An improper or undersized supply may cause startup failure, repeated restarts, shutdown during transmission, poor audio, connection loss, excessive heat, or electrical damage.
Place the power supply and radio where ventilation is available, liquids cannot spill onto them, wiring is protected, antennas can be positioned properly, the microphone is accessible, and equipment cannot fall from the surface.
Startup and Initial Testing
- Confirm that the mounting bracket is secure.
- Confirm that the 4G antenna is connected to the marked 4G port.
- Confirm that the UHF/VHF antenna is connected before using that function.
- Confirm that the GPS antenna is connected when applicable.
- Confirm that the speaker microphone is connected.
- Confirm that the power-cable sequence is correct.
- Turn on the vehicle or indoor power source.
- Press and hold the radio power control.
- Wait for the startup screen.
- Allow cellular registration and Talk2Me platform connection.
- Confirm the expected username and PoC group.
- Test the PoC side.
- Test authorized UHF/VHF channels separately when applicable.
PoC connection may take up to approximately two minutes after startup. Do not repeatedly cycle power while the radio is connecting.
Using the Talk2Me PoC Side
Transmit through PoC
- Confirm that the radio shows online.
- Confirm the intended Talk2Me network when selectable.
- Confirm the intended PoC group.
- Listen briefly for another transmission.
- Press and hold the microphone PTT button.
- Wait a brief moment.
- Speak clearly.
- Release PTT when finished.
Waiting briefly after pressing PTT helps prevent the first word from being cut off. Only one user can generally transmit in a PoC group at a time.
Select a PoC group
- Open the Groups menu.
- Review the available PoC groups.
- Highlight and confirm the intended group.
- Return to the main screen.
- Confirm that the group name appears.
- Complete a short radio check.
Contact Talk2Me when no PoC groups appear, a required group is missing, an unfamiliar group appears, the selection will not save, the radio was recently replaced, or another customer’s information appears.
Using UHF/VHF Lawfully
Use the UHF/VHF function only when:
- The proper antenna is connected.
- Channels are lawfully programmed.
- The operator or organization holds any required license or authorization.
- Repeater use is authorized.
- The radio is configured for the intended frequency and operating mode.
- The operator understands the controls.
Purchasing the radio does not authorize transmission on any frequency.
The customer and operator are responsible for complying with applicable FCC requirements. Talk2Me does not preprogram unauthorized UHF/VHF frequencies before shipment.
Do not transmit on public-safety, government, business, amateur, marine, aviation, railroad, restricted, or emergency frequencies unless the user has the required lawful authority.
Licensing and authorization
Depending on the frequencies used, authorization may involve an amateur-radio license, business-radio license, General Mobile Radio Service license, repeater-system permission, or another FCC authorization.
A Talk2Me platform account does not provide an FCC radio license. HamLink access also does not authorize traditional UHF/VHF transmission. HamLink PoC and amateur-radio-frequency operation are separate services.
Troubleshooting
The radio will not power on
- Confirm that the vehicle or indoor power source is operating.
- Confirm that the power-cable sequence is correct.
- Confirm that the radio cable is connected to the T-DY01.
- Confirm that the T-DY01 is connected to the T-shaped DC cord.
- Confirm that the DC cord is connected to the power source.
- Confirm correct voltage and polarity.
- Inspect the fuse and ground connection.
- Confirm that every connector is fully seated.
- Confirm the required vehicle ignition position when switched power is used.
Do not repeatedly replace a blown fuse without finding the cause. A failed fuse may indicate a short circuit, reversed polarity, damaged wiring, incorrect installation, or an internal equipment problem.
The radio repeatedly restarts
Possible causes include low voltage, loose power connections, an undersized indoor supply, damaged cables, an incorrect power sequence, vehicle voltage fluctuation, a defective microphone or accessory, or internal hardware trouble.
- Disconnect optional accessories.
- Confirm every power connection and the documented sequence.
- Confirm the correct voltage and sufficient current capacity.
- Inspect the fuse and wiring.
- Restart the radio once.
- Observe whether restarting occurs during transmission.
A radio that restarts when PTT is pressed may not be receiving sufficient power. Do not factory-reset it.
The PoC side shows Offline
- Wait up to approximately two minutes.
- Confirm that the cellular antenna is connected to the marked 4G port.
- Inspect the antenna and cable.
- Move the vehicle or antenna to another location.
- Restart the radio once.
- Confirm that cellular SIM service remains active.
- Confirm the intended PoC group.
- Record the exact screen message.
Do not remove the SIM or change cellular or APN settings.
Signal bars appear but PoC remains Offline
Signal bars do not guarantee active cellular data or platform access. Possible causes include expired or suspended SIM service, unavailable data, a disconnected platform account, incorrect Talk2Me network selection, a platform interruption, a configuration problem, or cellular routing trouble.
Submit Radio & Connection Support with the IMEI, ICCID, username, selected group, approximate location, signal information, and exact error message.
The PoC side shows No Service
- Confirm that the cellular antenna is on the marked 4G port.
- Confirm that the antenna cable is secure.
- Move the vehicle or antenna outdoors.
- Test another location.
- Restart the radio once and wait up to approximately two minutes.
- Confirm that the SIM plan remains active.
- Check whether another Talk2Me cellular radio has service nearby.
Coverage may vary because of carrier availability, terrain, buildings, vehicle location, antenna placement, congestion, outages, tower maintenance, or the SIM plan.
PoC works but UHF/VHF does not
- Confirm that the UHF/VHF antenna is attached to the BNC connection.
- Confirm that the antenna supports 136–174 MHz and 400–470 MHz.
- Confirm that the BNC adapter is installed correctly.
- Inspect the antenna cable.
- Confirm the correct channel and lawful programming.
- Confirm repeater information, squelch, and audio settings.
PoC connection does not confirm that UHF/VHF is programmed correctly. Contact Talk2Me for hardware troubleshooting or authorized programming assistance.
UHF/VHF works but PoC does not
This usually means the radio has power and its traditional radio side is operating, but the cellular PoC side is not connected.
Check the 4G antenna, cellular coverage, SIM status and renewal, online status, Talk2Me account assignment, and PoC group assignment. UHF/VHF does not require the installed cellular SIM.
The speaker microphone cannot transmit
- Confirm that the connector is fully inserted and locked.
- Inspect the cable and connector pins.
- Confirm the correct PoC group or UHF/VHF channel.
- Confirm that a transmit indicator appears.
- Confirm that the microphone is compatible.
- Power the radio off.
- Disconnect and inspect the microphone.
- Reconnect it carefully.
- Power the radio on.
- Test PoC and UHF/VHF separately.
- Test another approved microphone when available.
Do not open the microphone housing, rewire the connector, short pins, force a damaged plug, or use an unknown microphone.
No received audio
Check radio and microphone volume, the selected PoC group or UHF/VHF channel, PoC online status, UHF/VHF squelch, the microphone connection, and whether menu tones can be heard.
Test PoC and UHF/VHF separately to determine whether the issue concerns platform connection, UHF/VHF programming, the speaker microphone, the radio speaker, or general audio hardware.
Audio is distorted or cutting out

Test the two systems separately and report which one is affected.
GPS is not updating
- Confirm that the GPS antenna is connected to the marked GPS port.
- Confirm that its cable is secure.
- Position it with a practical view of the sky.
- Test outdoors or near an open area.
- Confirm that GPS service is included and activated.
- Confirm that the platform account supports GPS.
- Confirm that the authorized user is viewing the correct radio.
GPS reception may take time after startup. Connecting an antenna does not activate platform tracking automatically.
Incorrect username or PoC groups appear
Do not transmit on unfamiliar private groups. Record the IMEI, ICCID, displayed username, PoC groups, order number, private-network name, and a photograph of the screen. Contact Talk2Me promptly when another customer’s information appears.
Safety and Service Limitations
Do not factory-reset the radio
A factory reset may remove or disrupt Talk2Me software, platform assignment, PoC groups, cellular configuration, username, required background services, and customer-specific settings. It may leave the PoC side unable to communicate and may affect other radio settings.
Do not remove or swap the SIM
The installed SIM may be associated with the radio IMEI, cellular plan, Talk2Me platform account, renewal record, and customer configuration. Do not remove it, move it to another radio, change slots, install another SIM, cut or resize it, or change APN settings unless Talk2Me Support instructs you to do so.
Do not use unauthorized programming
Do not program unauthorized frequencies, use unsupported programming software, install unsupported applications, change firmware, disable Talk2Me services, alter protected engineering settings, open the housing, or attempt an internal repair.
Unauthorized changes may prevent PoC operation, cause unlawful transmission or harmful interference, damage the radio, and affect warranty eligibility.
Driving safety
Do not perform complex radio operations while driving. Drivers should not enter technical settings, program frequencies, read support instructions, troubleshoot wiring, type account information, reposition loose equipment, or handle antennas while the vehicle is moving.
Pull over safely before completing tasks that require extended attention, and follow all applicable distracted-driving laws.
Emergency-service limitation
The Talk2Me PoC side cannot call 911, place ordinary telephone calls, receive calls from standard phone numbers, connect to public-safety dispatch, replace a cellular telephone, or guarantee emergency communication. The UHF/VHF side also does not automatically provide access to emergency agencies. Do not transmit on public-safety channels without lawful authority. Maintain another approved method of contacting emergency services.
