The Talk2Me Private Network Platform Manager allows authorized administrators to view, create, and modify supported communication groups within their private network.
Groups help organize radios by team, department, location, job function, family, event, or another operational need.
Creating a group does not automatically add every radio to it. Radios may still need to be assigned to the group and allowed time to synchronize before the group appears on the device.

Open the Group List
- Open the Talk2Me Private Network Platform Manager.
- Select Company on the login screen.
- Enter the account name and password assigned to your private network.
- Select Login.
- Locate My Group in the left navigation menu.
- Expand My Group.
- Select Group List.
The number displayed beside My Group may indicate how many groups are currently available to the company account.
Use the Platform Manager company account. Do not enter a radio username, IMEI, Support Center password, or another user’s credentials.
Information in the Group List
Depending on the network and account permissions, Group List may display:
- Group name
- Number of users
- Call duration
- Group administrator settings
- Creation date
- Notes
- Available editing or management actions
Some fields may be controlled by Talk2Me or limited by the account configuration and may not be editable by the customer.
Create a New Group
- Open My Group from the left menu.
- Select Create Group.
- Confirm that the correct company account is selected.
- Enter the new Group Name.
- Select the available Call Duration when applicable.
- Enter optional notes describing the group’s purpose.
- Select Save.
- Confirm that the platform displays a successful creation message.
- Return to Group List.
- Confirm that the new group appears.
Do not create duplicate groups as a workaround when the first group does not appear immediately. Refresh the page and confirm whether the original group saved successfully.
Choose a Group Name
Use a short, clear name that radio users can recognize on a small display.
Examples include:
- Main
- Dispatch
- Security
- Sales
- Service
- Maintenance
- Warehouse
- Farm Operations
- Family
- Road Trip
- Emergency Coordination
Avoid group names that:
- Are nearly identical to another group
- Are unnecessarily long
- Contain unsupported symbols
- Are difficult to distinguish on a radio display
- Could be confused with a person, username, or another private network
- Could be mistaken for an official emergency service
Group Availability on Radios
Creating a group in Platform Manager does not always mean every radio will immediately see or use it.
A radio may also need to:
- Be assigned to the group
- Refresh its private-network connection
- Restart
- Reopen the Group menu
- Receive an approved configuration update
After creating or changing a group, allow time for the information to synchronize.
Confirm the group on a radio
- Confirm that the radio is connected to the correct private network.
- Press Menu.
- Select Group.
- Review the available groups.
- Select the new or updated group.
- Press OK.
- Confirm that the group name appears on the main screen.
Edit an Existing Group
- Open My Group.
- Select Group List.
- Locate the group you want to change.
- Find the Operation column for that group.
- Select Edit.
- Update the available information, such as:
- Group name
- Call duration
- Notes
- Other permitted settings
- Select Update.
- Confirm that the platform displays a successful update message.
- Select Return to the List.
- Confirm that the revised information appears in Group List.
Renaming a group may affect radio users and established workflows. Confirm how the group is being used before making a significant change.
Call Duration
The platform may allow an administrator to select a maximum continuous group-call duration.
Available values may vary by account or platform configuration. Examples may include:
- 30 seconds
- 60 seconds
- 120 seconds
- 180 seconds
Call duration controls the maximum length of one continuous transmission. It does not determine how long the group remains active or available.
Choose a duration that supports clear communication without allowing one user to hold the group for an unnecessarily long period.
Plan Your Group Structure
Before creating several groups, consider:
- Who needs to communicate together
- Whether every radio needs every group
- How users will identify the correct group
- Whether departments need separate communication
- Whether a shared main group is also needed
- How many groups users can reasonably navigate
- Who will manage group membership and future changes
Example: company with multiple teams
- Company Main
- Dispatch
- Sales
- Service
- Management
Example: farm or large property
- Main
- Equipment
- Field Team
- Maintenance
- Family
Avoid creating unnecessary groups that make radio navigation confusing.
Changes Do Not Appear on the Radio
- Confirm that the group was successfully saved.
- Refresh Platform Manager.
- Confirm that the radio is assigned to the group.
- Restart the radio once.
- Allow several minutes for synchronization.
- Open the radio’s Menu.
- Select Group.
- Review the available group list.
- Confirm that the radio has cellular data or supported Wi-Fi.
- Confirm that the radio is connected to the correct private network.
- Confirm that the correct radio IMEI is assigned in Platform Manager.
Do not factory-reset the radio. A reset may remove Talk2Me applications, platform settings, groups, usernames, or cellular configuration without fixing the group assignment.
Unable to Create or Edit a Group
A group-management option may be unavailable when:
- The account does not have administrator permission.
- Customer group management is not enabled.
- The maximum allowed number of groups has been reached.
- A required field is incomplete.
- The group name contains unsupported characters.
- The Platform Manager session has expired.
- The network configuration requires Talk2Me assistance.
Try:
- Reviewing the page for a warning or validation message.
- Confirming that all required fields are complete.
- Using a shorter group name without unusual symbols.
- Refreshing the page.
- Signing out and signing back in.
- Trying a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari.
- Opening Platform Manager in a private or incognito window.
Renaming or Removing a Group
Do not remove or significantly change an active group without confirming how it is being used.
Renaming or removing a group may affect:
- Radio group lists
- Dispatch or operational procedures
- User assignments
- Existing workflows
- Employees, family members, or volunteers relying on that group
- Training materials or written procedures
Before removing or renaming a group:
- Confirm which radios are assigned to it.
- Notify affected users.
- Determine whether a replacement group is needed.
- Document the intended change.
- Confirm that an authorized administrator approved the change.
When no delete option is available, submit a Private Network Support request rather than attempting another workaround.

Submit a Private Network Support request when:

- Radios need to be added to or removed from a group.
- A group must be renamed or removed.
- Group permissions appear incorrect.
- The available group limit needs review.
- Customer group management is not available.
