Use these steps when one or more radios cannot connect to a Talk2Me private network, cannot see the correct groups, or cannot communicate with other radios assigned to the network.
Start by identifying the scope. A problem affecting one radio is usually different from a problem affecting every radio, one group, all groups, cellular connections, Wi-Fi connections, or Platform Manager.
| What is affected? | Likely area to check first |
|---|---|
| One radio | Power, signal, SIM service, selected network, selected group, user account, microphone, speaker, or accessories |
| Several radios | Shared cellular service, group changes, account changes, network assignment, or platform interruption |
| One group | Group existence, radio assignments, permissions, renamed groups, or synchronization |
| All groups or the private network | Selected network, account status, platform assignment, internet connectivity, or private-network configuration |
| Platform Manager only | Browser, login type, company account, permissions, or page synchronization |

Identify What Is Affected
Before making changes, determine whether the problem affects:
- One radio
- Several radios
- Every radio on the private network
- One specific group
- All private-network groups
- Cellular connections only
- Wi-Fi connections only
- Platform Manager only
- Both the radios and Platform Manager
Also note whether the issue began after:
- A SIM renewal
- A radio replacement
- A username change
- A group change
- A new radio was added
- An account was suspended
- A network or administrator change
- A cellular carrier interruption
- A recent Platform Manager change
This information helps separate a radio problem from a network-wide, cellular-service, group, or account-configuration issue.
Confirm the Radio Is Powered On
- Confirm that the battery has sufficient charge.
- Press and hold the Power button for approximately three seconds.
- Allow up to approximately two minutes for startup and connection.
- Look for cellular signal bars, supported Wi-Fi, or another connection indicator.
- Confirm that the display does not remain on Searching Network or Offline.
If the radio does not power on
- Charge the battery.
- Confirm that the battery is installed correctly.
- Check the charger, cable, and docking station.
- Reinstall the battery when the model has a removable battery.
- Check the battery contacts for dirt, corrosion, or damage.
- Try another approved charging source when available.
Use only an approved charger, cable, battery, or docking station.
Restart the radio
- Press and hold the Power button until the radio shuts down.
- Wait approximately 15 seconds.
- Turn the radio back on.
- Allow up to approximately two minutes for reconnection.
- Confirm that the private network and intended group appear.
Restarting allows the radio to refresh its internet connection and platform information.
Confirm Internet Connectivity
A private-network radio requires cellular data, supported Wi-Fi, or another supported internet connection.
Check for:
- Cellular signal bars
- Active SIM service
- A working Wi-Fi connection on supported models
- A connected, online, or waiting status indicator
- Improved service after moving to another location
Try moving:
- Outdoors
- Near a window
- Away from metal buildings
- Away from basements or underground areas
- To another part of the property
- To another cellular coverage area
Poor connectivity may cause delayed audio, broken transmissions, repeated reconnection, Searching Network, Offline status, or complete loss of platform access.
Signal bars do not always prove that cellular data is working. A radio can display signal while the SIM is expired, suspended, improperly activated, or unable to reach the internet.
Confirm the Private Network Is Selected
On compatible radios with more than one assigned platform:
- Press Menu.
- Select Network.
- Locate the private-network option.
- Highlight the private network.
- Press OK or the green confirmation button.
- Confirm that a checkmark or selection indicator appears.
- Press Exit or Back.
- Allow the radio time to reconnect.
- Open the Group menu and select the intended private-network group.
The private network may appear as:
- The company, family, or organization name
- A numbered Network option
- An assigned account identifier
- Another configured network name
Do not rely on Network #1 or Network #2 alone because numbered labels may differ by radio and configuration.
Some radios may not display a Network option when only one platform is assigned or when the model does not support on-device switching.
Confirm the Correct Group Is Selected
- Press Menu.
- Select Group.
- Review the available group list.
- Highlight the intended private-network group.
- Press OK or the green confirmation button.
- Confirm that the group name appears on the main screen.
- Make a brief test transmission when appropriate.
A radio can be connected to the private network but unable to communicate with the expected users when the wrong group is selected.
Check Whether the Radio Appears in Platform Manager
An authorized administrator can review User List:
- Open the Talk2Me Private Network Platform Manager.
- Select Company.
- Sign in with the private-network Platform Manager credentials.
- Open My User.
- Select User List.
- Search for the radio by username or IMEI.
- Confirm that it appears under the correct company account.
Searching by IMEI is generally more reliable than searching by username.
Radio is missing from User List
A radio may be missing when:
- It has not been added to the private network.
- It is assigned to another company account.
- The wrong Platform Manager account was used.
- The radio is listed under a different username.
- The submitted IMEI was incorrect.
- A replacement or transfer is incomplete.
- A recent account change has not synchronized.
- The administrator lacks permission to view the radio.
Submit a Private Network Support request when the radio cannot be found by IMEI.
Check Account Status and Voice Service
Account status
- Open My User.
- Select User List.
- Locate the radio.
- Verify the IMEI.
- Select Edit.
- Review the account status.
- Confirm that the account is active and not suspended.
- Select Update only when an authorized correction is needed.
- Restart the radio after changing the status.
A suspended account may be unable to access private-network communication.
Do not activate, suspend, or modify another radio without confirming its IMEI. Do not suspend a radio merely because it temporarily appears Offline.
Voice service
Edit User may include a Voice setting. Confirm that Voice is enabled for a radio expected to transmit and receive PoC communications.
Do not disable Voice as a troubleshooting test. When the option is unavailable, locked, or will not save, submit a Private Network Support request.
Check Group Assignments
A group can exist in Platform Manager without every radio being assigned to it.
Confirm that:
- The group exists.
- The group name is correct.
- The affected radio is authorized for the group.
- The group was not recently renamed or removed.
- Other assigned radios can see the same group.
- The group or user change was successfully saved.
After a group change
- Refresh Platform Manager.
- Restart the affected radios.
- Allow several minutes for synchronization.
- Open the Group menu again.
- Confirm that the updated group appears.
Private Network Is Missing From the Radio
The private network may be missing when:
- It has not been assigned to the radio.
- The radio was replaced without transferring or recreating its configuration.
- The radio is assigned to the wrong company account.
- The wrong IMEI was submitted.
- A recent change has not synchronized.
- Platform access was suspended or removed.
- The radio needs an account or configuration update.
- The model does not display multiple networks in its menu.
- Restart the radio.
- Allow up to approximately two minutes for reconnection.
- Check the Network menu again when the model supports it.
- Confirm that the radio appears in Platform Manager under the correct IMEI.
Submit a Private Network Support request when the private network remains unavailable.
Radio Can Hear but Cannot Transmit
Confirm that:
- The private network is selected.
- The correct group is selected.
- The radio is Online.
- The PTT button is held while speaking.
- You wait approximately one second after pressing PTT before speaking.
- Another radio is not already transmitting.
- The account is active.
- Voice service is enabled.
- The radio has permission to transmit in the group.
- The microphone or connected handset is working.
Test another assigned group when available. When transmission works in another group, the issue may involve the original group’s assignment or permissions.
Radio Can Transmit but Cannot Hear
- Increase the volume.
- Disconnect and reconnect the earpiece, speaker microphone, or handset.
- Confirm that the correct group is selected.
- Restart the radio.
- Test another group.
- Confirm that another radio is transmitting in the same group.
- Check for a receiving indicator.
- Test without an external audio accessory when possible.
On some supported models, a solid red indicator represents transmission and a solid blue indicator represents reception. Indicator behavior varies by model.
One Radio Is Affected
When only one radio is affected, check:
- Battery and power
- Cellular signal or supported Wi-Fi
- SIM service
- Selected private network
- Selected group
- Account status
- Voice service
- Username and IMEI
- Group assignment
- Microphone, speaker, earpiece, or handset
- Whether the radio appears in Platform Manager
Compare the affected radio with a working radio on the same private network, in the same group, and in the same location.
Several Radios Are Affected
When several radios stop working at approximately the same time, check:
- Whether they use the same cellular provider or SIM plan
- Whether their SIM services expired together
- Whether a group was recently changed
- Whether accounts were suspended
- Whether the private network is selected
- Whether Platform Manager shows the radios
- Whether the issue occurs in every location
- Whether Wi-Fi-connected radios are also affected
- Whether the problem affects one group or all groups
A multi-radio issue is more likely to involve shared cellular service, group configuration, network assignments, account changes, or a platform interruption.
Platform Manager Will Not Load
- Confirm that the computer or mobile device has internet access.
- Open https://manager.talk2me.us/#/login.
- Select Company instead of Agent.
- Refresh the page.
- Use a current version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari.
- Open a private or incognito browser window.
- Clear saved browser information for manager.talk2me.us.
- Try another device or internet connection.
Do not include the Platform Manager password in a support request.
Platform Manager works, but the radios do not
When users and groups appear correctly in Platform Manager but the radios remain Offline, check:
- Cellular signal or supported Wi-Fi
- SIM status
- Selected private network
- Selected group
- Radio restart
- Account status
- Voice service
- Correct IMEI
- Whether the problem affects one or several radios
Platform Manager showing an account does not guarantee that the physical radio currently has internet connectivity.
Radios work, but Platform Manager is incorrect
- Refresh the page.
- Sign out.
- Close the browser.
- Sign back in.
- Search by IMEI.
- Confirm that the correct company account is open.
- Allow time for recent changes to synchronize.
Do not create duplicate groups or overwrite another radio to correct a display issue.
SIM Renewal Was Completed, but the Radio Is Offline
- Confirm that the renewal was applied to the correct SIM.
- Save the renewal confirmation.
- Turn the radio off.
- Wait approximately 15 seconds.
- Turn the radio back on.
- Allow up to approximately two minutes for cellular reconnection.
- Move to an area with stronger signal.
- Confirm that the private network and intended group are selected.
- Confirm the SIM number or ICCID when available.
Use a SIM Cards & Connectivity support request when renewal status, activation, replacement, or cellular service is the likely issue.
Use Private Network Support when cellular data works but the private network is missing, suspended, or inaccessible.
Actions to Avoid
Do not remove or move the SIM
Talk2Me radios normally ship with a SIM already installed. Do not remove, replace, or move it unless Talk2Me Support provides exact instructions.
Unnecessary SIM removal may cause:
- SIM damage
- SIM-slot damage
- Incorrect slot placement
- Loss of cellular connectivity
- Service being associated with the wrong radio
- Delays identifying the correct account
Do not change APN settings
Do not change the radio’s APN settings unless Talk2Me Support provides exact instructions. Incorrect APN information can prevent cellular-data connectivity.
Do not factory-reset the radio
A factory reset may alter or remove settings required for:
- Cellular service
- Talk2Me platform access
- Private-network access
- Group information
- Radio usernames and account configuration
- Installed Talk2Me applications
SIM removal, APN changes, unsupported software changes, and factory resets are not general troubleshooting steps. Complete them only when Talk2Me Support provides model-specific instructions.
