Talk2Me Help Guide

26 Rescue Handheld: Computer Programming, Backups, and Channel Cloning

Use the Talk2Me-supplied ML Dual-Mode Programming Software version 1.01.0025, the Rescue-compatible programming cable and supplied driver for the version 1.1 manual workflow. Obtain the approved software through Talk2Me; it is also emailed with the radio purchase.

Read and preserve this radio first

  1. Connect the Rescue-compatible programming cable securely, connect the computer, and turn on the radio.
  2. Wait for Device Connected. If disconnected, check power, cable, connection and the supplied driver; stop before writing.
  3. Choose Program > Read, select Read All and click Read. Wait for completion.
  4. Choose File > Save. Name the backup with the radio identity and date. Keep that original unchanged and edit a working copy.

Keep power and cable connected

Do not disconnect or power off during reading or writing. Back up each radio before changing its programming.

Check APN without changing it

After Read All, open Mode > Network Trunking Radio > APN. The manual's supplied configuration expects wbdata. If your read radio shows another value, contact Talk2Me before writing. Do not replace it just to match this article; your installed service must be verified. Keep account, SIM, APN and remaining connection values intact while editing analog channels.

Edit, write and verify analog channels

  1. After saving the backup and checking the APN, open a working copy.
  2. Choose Mode > Private Network > Channel. Here Private Network is the software's analog-programming section; it does not choose a private PoC account.
  3. Add or select the analog channel and set its name, receive/transmit frequencies, CTCSS/DCS tones, output power and bandwidth as required for authorized operation.
  4. Confirm Device Connected. Choose Program > Write, select Write All and click Write.
  5. Wait for completion before disconnecting.
  6. On the radio, verify channel names, RX/TX frequencies, offsets, tones, power and bandwidth.

Clone channels between identical Rescue Handheld radios

Cloning overwrites destination channels

Back up both radios and verify the source and destination ranges. Occupied channels in the selected destination range are replaced. Use identical 26 Rescue Handheld models.

  1. Prepare the destination first: Green > Analog Setting > 9 Channel Clone RX.
  2. At ---to---, enter three-digit first and last destination channels. Leave the destination in RX waiting on the programming frequency.
  3. On the master, open Green > Analog Setting > 10 Channel Clone TX. Enter the three-digit first and last source channels, for example 001 to 034. Only that range is sent.
  4. Confirm the master's entry with Enter to send the channel data.
  5. Verify destination channel numbers, frequencies, names, tones and other settings. Save a fresh backup after verification.

When to stop and contact Support

  • The radio remains disconnected in the software.
  • The APN differs from the expected value after reading.
  • The model, cable, driver or software version does not match the approved instructions.
  • A write/clone fails, the intended channel range is unclear, or you cannot verify the resulting programming.
